** Our program outcomes are evaluated in a two step process centered around the capstone project or thesis. After the student has a oral and written proposal, the reading committee evaluates the program outcomes on a 1-5 scale. This is done again after the oral and written defense. The department faculty review the results at an annual retreat. The findings are used to strengthen the proposal and thesis courses to make sure that all the program outcomes are targeted. Specific examples include adding more to the proposal course on statistics and design of experiment and on safety. 2006-2007

** We use the followings: Direct assessment of student performance in examinations, some home-works; alumni survey, employer survey, and external review of graduate courses to assess achievement of stated outcomes (Graduate Student Outcomes A through D) After the data is summarized by the department Chair/office staff for all courses that support a specific outcome, evidence of meeting each outcome will be interpreted by outcome champions (full-time faculty members) with recommendations for program improvement. All recommendations by all outcome champions will be summarized by the Department Chair and presented to the faculty to vote on the recommendations before each recommendation is implemented. 2006-2007
